The National Fisheries Authority of Papua New Guinea is a semi-commercial statutory authority established and operating under the Fisheries Management Act 1998 and related regulations.

Papua New Guinea fisheries is developed into a strong, broad-based, diversified and value-adding industry that is globally competitive; domestically inclusive and functioning as a robust and sustainable source of government revenue, food and livelihood for the people.

Monitoring, Control and Surveillance
The main goal of the MCS is to adopt and sustain best practice systems in pursuit of increased compliance with national fisheries laws and policies, and relevant international fisheries obligations and standards.
Audit and Certification Unit
The ACCD is responsible for maintaining the Competent Authority (CA) status of the NFA in the international, regional and national arena.
Licensing and Data Management
The Licensing and Data Management Group is responsible for processing license applications and renewals, receiving and entering catch and export data into relevant databases, providing information to stakeholders and regional organizations.
